NASCE PARCONDICIO.TV

Hi, i’m sorry that i can’t give you much informations about myself, but my city isn’t as big as others, so i would be easily recognizable. Anyway anotherbrixia isn’t my art name, brixia is the old-latin name of my city (Brescia). Anotherbrixia is a project started one year ago to create a new city living next to the real one, a sort of duplication of reality to show with an immediate effect that the city we would isn’t so difficult to create. I care about aestethic, and i started changing it on the city i would like to live into. It would be nice to found a brained-politician who starts doing this work in an institutional way.
I started doing traditional graffiti in the late 1996, and as i was a child you can imagine what was my production like. By the way i never been satisfied by my traditional graffiti also years later, i thought that after about 40 years of graffiti we must ask ourselves more than a logo or a tag (which i prefer than a logo!).
I hate how graffiti turned on, most graffiti-writers (in Italy but probably also abroad!) consider graffiti in a viril way:
“i destroyed everything yesterday night, the city, trains, fuck’em all!”
i consider them as all those idiots meeting themselves into pubs talking with arrogance about how they fucked a girl the night before and how their dick worked well…
And when you talk with the girl it’s funnier than a trash film!

>You live in italy, and most of your work is written in French & English. Why such a choice not to use italian language ?
Well, what can i say. About english the bases are in the public i want to talk with. Italian is a language known by no-one, even some italians! English is the way to let everyone know my works, also italians. Saying the truth most of italians don’t know what english is, but without generalizing, in Italy people who don’t know english even don’t know what contemporary art is, so why care about them? I also used french in some cases, as on the Calvi-Bastia train in Corse with the inscription “j’aime la liberté”. I was in France, sorry in Corse! So i had to!…i thought on using the Corse dialet, but didn’t want being confused with a FLNC terrorist! It happened just the same, but it wasn’t an error of mine, have you ever seen a FLNC terrorist writing in french???
>"Regardez moi" (look at me) it is what every taggers (more or less consciously) say when writing their name on public space, isn't it ?
Exactly, you’re right. But the regardez-moi “project” started to complete a work started years before, which consisted on colouring with the yellow-fluo color parts of the city i liked and which “normal people” disliked to let them see that even the “worst” thing has a dignity. Aestethically talking.
The project ended with the “pink-palace”, but there was one more motive. The cool pink sky-scraper you see seems normal, but is an abandoned and never-finished hotel, in the middle of the city, inhabited since more than 10 years by heroin dealers, other criminals and some “illegal” immigrants. About 6 roofs of real delinquence, violence, and indifference. Ah also LOTS of excrements!!! When the palace decided to say everyone “regardez-moi” and politicians and police had no excuses to do nothing, something started, lot of round-ups and injunctions against the owner…i used french because i see this language as more human than english, the palace wanted to scream “please help me” and not “bad mothafuckin’ corrupted business-man”.

You’re right once again, it’s very rough and i’m keeping it rough. I love to use materials with a strong temperament, which don’t give you the possibility of program too much your actions. I’m most interested on the meaning of what i do, on the essence of his soul, the aestethic common-taste comes after. Although that, i think that the aestethic in my works is exactly the way it has to be. And it doesn’t seem violent to me, in some cases just strong and rough!
I’ve never been caught, and the only time i had to run my problem were the Algerin heroin dealers of the pink-palace, because talking french they exactly knew what i was writing! Anyway i don’t consider myself as a criminal or whatelse. Probably if something would happen i won’t try to escape, i think that what I do is not so offensive, i’m only scared by the bad reputation on graffiti we created during the years, i will pay for my unauthorized funny works but i repeat, now i won’t pay for something i don’t do.
And probably “normal” people’s opinion will help me in that case, because it seems that lot of them like what i do! I talked with a charming journalist in these days, an article is coming out maybe tomorrow, so just wait!!
>You have also started to do projections on buildings. Did you have authorisations ? Will you do more ?
Yes, i started some months ago, i like this kind of digital graffiti, i like the way the projections invade the private space phisically entering people houses. It’s a kind of graffiti elevated at the second power! And i love it because it’s at the same time the nullifying of graffiti; i mean every graffiti-writer is obsessed by doing something eternal, and i also reiceved chritics because projections are temporary. But i always smile thinking about the face of those graffiti writers seeing all their works disappear in 2 years after they’ll stop! 2, 5 or 10 years are eternal? Everything is temporary! We have to tag minds not streets! Anyway, i never had authorization since now when doing projections. I was starting a new projections tour incentrated on small projections inside house windows, but i lent my projector to a friend to do an exibition last week, and he let someone steal it!!!! So, hoping for a fat museum compensation i’ll delay the operation of some months. Don’t do it before me!!
>Some Italian cliches are soccer, vatican, ferrari, berlusconi, maffia, pizza & pasta... Which one are the most interesting for your work ?
Hahahahahahhaha good question!! Surly vatican, i’m interested in religions (without talking about their good and BAD aspects). I LOVE pizza and for a period i drew into pizza’s containers. Mafia lost his charm, and i don’t care about soccer and ferrari, are out of my world. Berlusconi is a pirate!!! And he’s the fattest anarchic i’ve ever seen!!
He don’t mind about laws and when he has to do it, he changes the law before the impact! He is as evil as most of the human-being, he is only more determined than others! And he only does what is inborn on his nature (fuck the others!); shall we have to kill him?? I don’t think so, but we can vote another-one!!
So, lot of my works are moved by this “anti evil-humans” behaviour, but he concerns more or less as other bastards i knew along my street!

Ahahaahahahahaah i have to say first that my aim wasn’t to create this mess!! It was probable but not desired! It had to be an unauthorized monument to let appear this historical period less dramatic, leaving a “bomb” which had a psycological chrisis because of this world (as everyone today, because of the international situation). The second aim was to test the manipulation of tv information. Have you ever seen a cemented bomb??? The problem was that also police and journalists in Italy doesn’t study english!!
Anyway the experiment worked on and the tv said it was an action against war, probably because they confused the word “WORLD” with “WAR” because of the similar pronunciation. Funny don’t you think?? And it seems that they don’t understand because i did another similar action with a pram (check the site section called “trust nobody!” on next months, now it’s offline waiting for the article!); same reaction, same information distortion!!
By the way i’m a little bit sorry!

>What is the action you have done you are the most proud ?
I didn’t killed and ate the corpse of the friend of mine who let steal my super-projector!!!!!
>Which artists (from the street-graffiti scene and/or classic art scene) do you enjoy and feel close ?
From the streets:
First i have to mention for being correct the guys from Our Machine, they got skills, a BEAUTIFUL SITE and they did street-projections before me.
KEGRE, i stay open-mouthed every time i see his works. Expecially the oldest.
I hope to go living in Berlin to complete my art-school studies; everytime i go there i think i’ve seen the best graffiti in the world; but everytime i return to Berlin i understand that the best graffiti in the world had been done while i was away!
CBS are living me without words since i went there the first time when i was 15!
Influenza got really cool ideas, i love the relation between the works he does and the titles he gives them. When i’ve seen the “information blackout” with this delicate black-spray scribble i thought he really got it. The trees were super-cool, but i think that he (and me!) has to stop thinking about the “graffiti-scene”!
And last but not least East Eric, he is really punk!
From the “conventional art” world, the names are too many to start talking,, just mention Marcel Duchamp.
>Any upcoming projects, you would like to share with us ?
I’m going to India with my girlfriend, my site-webmaster and his girlfriend for one month between september/october; i’m sure that lots of things and people over there are waiting for me!
Thanks eko!
L'ESIB, "The National Unions of Students in Europe", raccoglie 44 associazioni studentesche nazionali in 34 paesi e rappresenta circa 10 milioni di studenti.

Grazie
